I want to talk to you guys today about timing, God’s timing. You see my pastor says we live in a “microwave world” and that we want, what we want, when we want it. I’m guilty of that too. It says in Jeremiah that God has a plan for me not to harm me but to give me hope and a better future. I don’t know about you, but that makes me want to jump for joy!! God has a plan for me? Really? He cares for me? The answer to all of those is YES! God loves you so much that he has a plan for your life and all you have to do is trust him and follow him.
Now I’m gonna tell on myself a little bit. I sometimes get aggravated with God. He laid it in my spirit that I was going to do something. And I have to wait for it? Really God, that’s like telling a kid they can have a lolly pop but can’t eat it until the parent says so. (Back to that “microwave world” we want, what we want, when we want it.)
It makes me think of Habakkuk, God gave him a prophecy, but he didn’t act instantly and Habakkuk complained to God because things weren’t moving as fast as he thought they should. He wanted to see God do more, but God had a plan.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. -Habakkuk 2:3
I want you to do something. Take a piece of printer paper and fold it as neatly and as small as you can. Then open it. Now do you see all of those straight lines? That is your plan for you life a nice car, a nice house, great job, a perfect life. Straight as an arrow. Now crumble it up and open it. That’s God’s plan it might not be as straight as you had hoped but it’s his plan in his timing. Now I want you to look closer, you see those straight lines are still there because God want’s you to have the desires of your heart as long as they don’t conflict the plan he has for your life.
God has a plan for your life as well. Don’t give up if it doesn’t happen instantly. God has perfect timing. Let God have the steering wheel of your life, he doesn’t want to be the co-pilot, he is the pilot! Trust him, have faith, and in his timing great things are coming.
God,
Thank you for giving us hope. Hope to make it through when things don’t work out as fast as we think they should. God thank you for being a just God that never falters or fails. Lord for anyone that has a doubt that you don’t have a plan in there life give them the faith that they will see what you can truly do.
In Jesus name,
Amen
