Last week I was listening to music and the song There is a cloud came on. The first time I listened to that song God gave me a word in my spirit that I’ll never forget (There is a flood coming) but as I listened this time 1 Kings chapter 17 and 18 starting running through my mind. Elijah prophesied a drought…
And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LordGod of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
So I’m going to fast forward a little bit 3 years to be exact. You know that the people of Samaria were getting a little tired. No water, no food, and I’m sure there was no grass so it was probably really dusty (HaHa). Elijah began praying for rain. Sending his servant to check. 6 times his servant came back and there was no rain but on the 7th time there was a cloud the size of a mans hand.
And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked.
“There is nothing there,” he said.
Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.”
The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”
So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”
It’s on this that we should get great encouragement. You may be praying for something and your answer hasn’t came yet. Don’t loose faith, God’s vision for you is still there and it will come at an appointed time Habakkuk 2:3. Keep faith and continue praying for the vision God has in store for you.
Stay obedient, God may send you down one path and then change it up at the next second. Don’t get flustered and want to quit. He’s only looking to see if you are going to follow his command. He loves you, He wants you to be the best that you can be, He’s not going to lead you down a path of destruction.
Wait for his rain, listen to what he tells, go where he sends, keep your faith, and be obedient.
Father God,
Thank you for your many promises. Help us to trust you Lord. Lead, Guide, and Direct us.
In your most heavenly precious name,
Amen
